The Mission
Gustavus aimed to break free from the conventions of higher education websites by creating a bold, memorable, and uniquely engaging digital experience. It was crucial to embrace simplicity and authenticity, using visuals in meaningful ways, concise storytelling, and immersive media to stand out in a crowded landscape.

The Hook
Moving beyond the typical clutter of higher education websites, the redesigned Gustavus site stays true to brand guidelines while introducing fresh expressions of the school’s bold personality. A minimal, high-contrast color palette pairs with signature elements like the three crowns logo and lion head motif to create a distinctive visual language. Together, these elements build strong brand recognition across every level of the site. The experience invites users in through interactive features such as the “Passion Finder,” a custom module that helps prospective students explore courses, clubs, and sports aligned with their unique mix of interests.
